Every day we hear questions like:
Will AI take my job?
Will my skills still matter?
Will there still be a place for me?
They sound like questions about artificial intelligence.
I wonder if they're really questions about something much older.
AI Didn't Create the Question
Every generation experiences something that changes the world around it.
Ours happens to be artificial intelligence.
Like every profound change before it, AI is changing what the world rewards.
Some skills will become more valuable.
Others less so.
There is nothing unusual about that.
What feels different is what this moment is quietly revealing.
What We Have Been Measuring
Many of us spend years becoming good at what we do.
We build expertise.
Earn trust.
Carry responsibility.
Over time, something almost invisible begins to happen.
The things the world rewards quietly become the things we use to measure ourselves.
