Between Chapters

There are seasons of life that do not seem to belong anywhere.

The chapter we have known is no longer able to continue as it once did.

The next chapter has not yet begun.

We find ourselves somewhere in between.

Not where we were.

Not yet where we are going.

Many people experience this as feeling stuck.

Often, they are not stuck at all.

They are between.

While Life Continues

From the outside, very little appears different.

Work continues.

Families gather.

Meetings are attended.

Responsibilities remain.

Life carries on.

Yet inwardly, something has shifted.

Part of us already knows we cannot return to the life we have been living.

Another part has not yet discovered how to step fully into what comes next.

The ordinary rhythm of life continues while something extraordinary is quietly unfolding beneath it.

The Discomfort of Between

This is one of the most uncomfortable places to stand.

Not because nothing is happening.

But because so much is happening that cannot yet be seen.

We want clarity.

We want movement.

We want the next chapter to begin.

Instead, we find ourselves living with unanswered questions.

The future has not yet revealed enough of itself.

The past has not yet completely released its hold.

We belong fully to neither.

The Quiet Work No One Sees

The waiting room can appear empty.

It rarely is.

Understanding continues to deepen.

Acceptance quietly settles.

Old assumptions begin to loosen.

The future we once imagined gradually gives way to the future that is becoming possible.

Very little of this is visible.

Yet much of it is essential.

Some of the most significant changes in our lives happen before anything outwardly appears to change.

Leaving Too Soon

The discomfort of uncertainty creates its own temptation.

To return to what is familiar simply because it is known.

To make a decision simply to escape the waiting.

To mistake movement for readiness.

Yet not every period of waiting is asking us to move more quickly.

Sometimes it is asking us to remain present long enough for understanding to complete its work.

When the Next Chapter Appears

No one remains between chapters forever.

There comes a moment when something quietly settles.

Not because every question has been answered.

Not because certainty has arrived.

But because understanding has become enough.

Looking back, many people discover they were never truly stuck.

They were standing between two chapters.

One had not quite finished.

The other was not yet ready to begin.
